A Sailing School for All Ages

Now in our 70th year of sailing instruction, Queen City Yacht Club takes pride in offering Learn to Sail programs to both youth (ages 8-17) and adults (18+). Our experienced Sail Canada-certified coaches are well qualified to deliver the Sail Canada curriculum to all ages and skill levels.

Location, Facilities and Fleet

Our beautiful Toronto Island location is the best place to be in the summer, with a picturesque view of the city, and a real sense of “getting away”.

Our recently renovated Learn to Sail clubhouse offers a modern yet comfortable classroom for on-shore instruction, while our new floating dock system makes boat launch and haulout safe and easy.

Students learn to sail on a variety of sailboats, including Optimists, Picos, Zests and 420s. Meanwhile, the Adult Keelboat program is taught on 24-foot Sharks .

Why Sailing?

Sailing is a fun outdoor activity that can become a lifetime passion. In fact, many of our current QCYC members started in our Youth Learn to Sail program. That doesn't mean that you have to be young to get into it, though. Our adult programs are an equally great way to get started, and include a Learn to Sail membership which provides access to the club for the balance of the season.

Over the years, we have produced hundreds of life-long sailors - including several who went on to become members of the Canadian National Sailing Team. Whether you’re interested in racing or simply picking up a relaxing new pastime, sailing is a wonderful way to enjoy some time on the water, and there’s no better place to learn than QCYC.
