Club Events

At Queen City, we know how to party! The club has a long-standing reputation around Lake Ontario's sailing community for throwing great parties, in The Great Hall of our clubhouse and on the surrounding grounds which overlook Toronto harbour. Most of our parties have live bands to get everyone up and dancing.

The season opener in April is Chili Challenge, a potluck dinner after Launch. Sailpast follows on the Saturday of the long weekend in May. Always a sold-out affair, Sailpast is one of the few formal events at Queen City - some of the men actually wear ties! The first Saturday in June is reserved for New Members Night, where we celebrate the arrival of new additions to our club. Among the other events that members look forward to are LobsterFest, the Commodore's Ball, the Women Skippers Race and Pig Roast, a huge event at which over 400 delicious meals are served. Awards Night, in September, is another semi-formal occasion at which Racing flags and silverware are presented. And finally, to close the season, there is Pot Luck, which follows one of the Haulout days.

Visit the Entertainment section of this site for more information on all the events this year.

With all of these great events happening on home ground, some members find it hard to find time to cruise. But Club Cruises are also eagerly anticipated social events! Once or twice a year, members band together to sail to another yacht club for the weekend. As Queen City plays host to many visitors during the summer, so are Queen City members always welcomed around the Lake.
